Why study in Dubai?
Five reasons students and parents tell us matter most.
International universities
Dubai has universities from the UAE as well as international universities with branch campuses. A UK or Australian name on the degree is common, with a Dubai address underneath. Students can find programmes in business, engineering, computer science, finance, design, hospitality and healthcare.
A truly international environment
Dubai is home to people from many different nationalities. That means you study, live and work alongside classmates from across the world, which is useful experience whichever career you choose.
Connectivity
A major international aviation hub with frequent flights to India, Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Safety and infrastructure
Modern public transport, healthcare facilities and a generally safe environment for international students.
Career environment
A major commercial centre across finance, technology, logistics, tourism, aviation, real estate and professional services.

Tuition fees
Fees vary by university, programme and level of study. Estimates online range from AED 25,000 to AED 243,000 a year, so named examples are more useful than averages.

Cost of living
Rent decides whether your budget holds. Accommodation, food, transport, health insurance, personal expenses and study materials are the main costs.
Shared student housing: AED 1,500 to 4,250 a monthA room in shared accommodation keeps costs predictable.
Your own one-bedroom flat: AED 5,000 to 8,000 a monthThat gap adds up to tens of thousands of dirhams over a degree.
Food, transport, phone, utilities: up to AED 4,000 to 4,500 a monthCooking at home brings this down. Groceries alone are often quoted at AED 800 to 1,200.

Watch the DEWA housing feeIt adds 5% of your annual rent to the utility bill. Some universities also require international students to carry health insurance.
Estimate your first-year budget
Move the sliders to match the university and lifestyle you have in mind.
AED 125,000per year, before visa, insurance, deposits and exchange-rate movement. We suggest planning for AED 120,000 to 150,000 a year in total and leaving some slack.
Language, scholarships and work
English language requirements
Many programmes are taught in English. Universities may ask for IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or another recognised English-language qualification. Some offer a test waiver based on your previous education, with conditions that vary by institution.
Scholarships
Universities in Dubai may offer scholarships or tuition-fee reductions to international students. Eligibility can depend on academic performance, programme, university and intake.
Working while studying
Part-time work needs permission from both the university and the immigration authorities, and it is subject to UAE regulations and your student residence status. Verify the current rules before accepting any job, and do not plan on a campus job covering your rent.
Admission requirements
Requirements vary by university and programme. They may include:
Academic transcripts
Passport
English-language proficiency
Personal statement or supporting documents
Programme-specific prerequisites
Proof of financial capacity, where applicable
Before you pay anything, get three answers in writing
The full first-year bill, including visa, insurance and deposits.
Who awards the degree: the home campus or the Dubai one.
Where the last two graduating classes ended up.
A university that avoids any of these questions is telling you something. We ask them on your behalf.
After graduation
Post-study options depend on your employment status and the UAE immigration rules in force when you graduate. Graduates who secure eligible employment may be able to move to an appropriate employment-based residence status.
What a first salary looks like
There is no income tax in Dubai. Starting pay varies widely by field, and career-site estimates are a ballpark rather than a government survey.
AED 6,000 to 9,000
a month is a typical range quoted for business graduates. Computer science graduates at multinationals can start higher. Indian graduates are often quoted AED 4,000 to 7,000.
Freshers rarely land a Dubai job from a distance, so plan on looking after you arrive.
Where Dubai makes the most sense
Your family is funding the fees outright.
You are aiming at tech, finance or engineering, where starting pay is higher.
Dubai is your first step towards another country.
You want a UK or Australian degree close to home, with flights to India in a few hours.
Golden Visa for top students
The government portal lists a ten-year residence route, without a sponsor, for graduates of foreign universities with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. The threshold has changed before, so check it when you graduate, not just when you apply.
New names arriving in Dubai
Three new campuses were due for 2025-26: IIM Ahmedabad, the American University of Beirut and Fakeeh College for Medical Sciences. Before applying to any new campus, we help you confirm the Dubai course fee and whether the certificate matches the one from the home campus.
Questions students ask
Is Dubai cheaper than the UK or Australia?
Tuition at many Dubai branch campuses is lower than at the home campus, and you pay no income tax. Rent and lifestyle choices still decide the real total, so use the budget estimator above and ask each university for the full first-year bill.
Will I get a degree from the UK or Australian university?
Not always in the same form. Some Dubai campuses award the home university's degree and others award their own. Ask in writing who awards the degree and whether the certificate matches the home-campus one.
Can I work while I study?
Part-time work needs permission from both the university and the immigration authorities. Rules can change, so verify them before you accept any job.
Do I need IELTS?
Many programmes accept IELTS, TOEFL or PTE. Some universities waive the test based on your previous education, depending on their own conditions.
Are scholarships available?
Some universities offer merit scholarships or fee reductions. For example, AUD offers merit awards worth up to half of tuition. Eligibility depends on academic performance, programme and intake.
Can I stay in Dubai after my degree?
It depends on your employment and the immigration rules at the time. Graduates with eligible employment may move to an employment-based residence status, and high-GPA graduates may qualify for the Golden Visa. Check the current criteria when you graduate.
